Heath Free Public Library - Library Cards

Library Card
The new Heath Free Public Library cards are available now! The front of the card features a reproduction of a beautiful ink drawing of Sawyer Hall by Frederick Burrington. Please come to the library to fill out an application and receive your card. On February 27, 2008 we became a circulating member of C/W MARS and are using the cards for borrowing books, audio books, magazines, and movies from our library.

You may search the Heath Free Public Library Online Catalog from the public access computer in the library or from your home computer. Use your card to place holds on items.

Your card may be used to borrow materials at any public library that is a member of C/W MARS (list of member libraries). Nearby C/W MARS public libraries are Buckland, Colrain, Shelburne, Greenfield, Montague, Amherst, and Northampton.

Heath library patrons may also use their new library card to search the online catalog and  request  items from other libraries in the C/W MARS system. Requested items will be delivered to our library (or another library of your choice) for pick up during regular library hours. We will call you when the item arrives in Heath.

The Greenfield Public Library website has excellent instructions for how to request items from your home computer and how to renew items.

You may also use your card to access several online Reference Databases provided by C/W MARS, the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners, and Massachusetts Regional Library Systems. Available databases are:
African-American History Online
American History Online
American Women Online
Science Online
Grove Art Online
NoveList (Fiction reader's advisory service)
GaleGroup Databases (Academic, business, general, health, more)
Literary Reference Center (Information on thousands of authors and their works)
Massachusetts Newsstand (Boston Globe, Herald, Worcester Telegram&Gazette, and others)

C/W MARS also provides OneSearch , a search engine which allows you to find books, articles, and web resources with a single search.

If you have a high-speed internet connection you may download digital videos, audio books, and ebooks from the C/W MARS Digital Catalog.
